Pranic healing is a system of spiritually based healing techniques created by Choa Kok Sui. Proponents of pranic healing say it is the science and art of using pranato heal. Prana [often equated by New Agers to the Chinese concept of qi/vital energy/universal energy] in Hindubelief is considered to be the body's life force energy, distributed around the body via a number of chakrasor energy centres.
Pranic healing is a systematized and modern version of classic energy healing techniques, borrowing from various spiritual traditions. In the hierarchy of the Pranic Healing organisation, the creator, Choa Kok Sui, is considered Grand Master. Some mainstream medical research into pranic healing as a support and complement to conventional medicine has been undertaken [1].
Pranic healing uses "energy sweeping" techniques to remove unwanted "energy forces". A technique credited to its improved effectiveness over other healing modalities. It nevertheless uses a freestyle energy "charging" technique that is more common with a few energy healing techniques.
Criticism
Some critics have accused pranic healing as being a cult organisation. A feature story on The Occult Report read, "If a disciple challenges this group, they are cursed with Voodoo assaults and persuaded against their future lifetimes retribution, their reward for dissention." [2]Ex-members of Pranic Healing groups have complained of losing all their finances to the group and being fearful of psychic attacks.
