Shivering

Shivering is a bodily function in response to coldin warm-bloodedanimals. When the core temperatureof the body drops, the shivering reflexis triggered. Musclegroups around the vital organsbegin to shake in small movements in an attempt to create warmth by expending energy.

Other responses observed in cold people (for example, swimmersemerging from a pool on a cold windy day), are dancing on the spot, hugging oneself with the arms surrounding the torso, huddling together, goose bumpson the skin, and using insulation such as towels.
