Breslow's depth

In medicine, Breslow's depth is used as a prognostic factorin predicting the 5-year survival rate in humans who have malignant melanomaof the skinby calculating the risk of metastasis. It is determined by using an ocular micrometerto directly measure the depth tumor cellshave invaded the skinmeasured from the granular layerof the epidermis.

Clark's levels is a related staging system, often used in conjunction with Breslow's depths, which depends on multiple anatomical landmarks in the skin.
