Autreat
Autreat is a retreat and conference held in the United Statesfor autistic people hosted by Autism Network International. The first Autreat was in 1996[{{fullurl:Template:FULLPAGENAME}}#endnote_hist_ani], and as of 2005, there has been an Autreat every year except 2001. It is the intent that Autreat will be more "autistic friendly" than other autism conferences, which ANI believes are typically about autistic people but are intended for parents and professionals. Autreat is intended to be for autistic people, though they do allow parents, professionals, and others to attend. Autreat tries to be more autistic friendly by not having things like sensory bombardment, or pressure to interact socially [1]. Autreat was the inspiration for another autism conference called Autscape held in Europeannually starting in 2005 [2].
