Ziauddin Medical University

Ziauddin Medical University is a degree awarding private University, established in 1995, Karachi, Pakistan. After the necessary approval from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the University established Ziauddin Medical College, which commenced its first academic session in April 1996. The first group of 55 students began their studies in April 1996 and graduated in March 2001. Dr. Asim Hussian is the Chancellor of the University and former Federal Secretary to the Government of Pakistan, Mr. Shahid Aziz Siddiqi is the Vice Chancellor. Under their stewardship, Ziauddin Medical University is counted as one of the premier medical institutions in Pakistan.

The establishment of the medical college fulfilled a dream of Sir Ziauddin Ahmed (1877 - 1947) who had hoped to start a medical college at Aligarh Muslim University.http://www.zmu.edu.pk/sir.html
