Xanthomonas oryzae is a species of proteobacteria. The major host of the bacteria is rice [http://www.eppo.org/QUARANTINE/bacteria/Xanthomonas_oryzae/XANTOR_ds.pdf] . The species contains two pathvars which are non-European: Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola[http://www.eppo.org/QUARANTINE/bacteria/Xanthomonas_oryzae/XANTOR_ds.pdf] .
