Radiological Society of North America

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), founded in 1915, has the purpose to "promote and develop the highest standards of radiology and related sciences through education and research". The society publishes the journals Radiology and RadioGraphics. The highest honour of the society is the Gold Medal, awarded for the first time in 1919 and now annually to people who have "rendered unusual service to the science of radiology" (since 1977, three medals are awarded each year). The annual meeting, usually simply referred to as 'RSNA' after the organization and held each late November to early December in Chicago, is the major academic meeting for radiologists in the United States.The RSNA headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, houses a glass bowl etched with hieroglyphics and the organization's logo.
