Quaid-e-Azam Medical College

This college with teaching hospital was designed indigenously by Pakistani Architect A. R. Hye - one of the first and leading architects in the history of Pakistan. The design incorporates the natural climate control features of cross ventilation strategic placement of windows, overhangs and courtyards to create shades. Additionally roof vaults besides providing insulation also allow the flow of wind through the vault roof bringing down ceiling temperatures and hollow walls provide insulation. This Medical College was founded in 1970's and it is affiliated with Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital for clinical training of the students. It has been providing health care facilities to a population of around 12 million and has been rendering yeoman's service to the country by producing 3282 medical graduates till the year 1997. At its inception it was a masterpiece of Architecture and Medical Campus planning, having been designed by a Pakistani Architect A. R. Hye using tropical designs. It is a center of tertiary care and postgraduate courses, i.e. DOMS, DCP, DCH, M.S. (Ortho) and FCPS in Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery and other specialties and for MCPS in Dermatology.The College building houses the following departments:
