Oncogenomics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oncogenomics is a relatively new field of study involving oncogenes—genes that are genetically altered within a cell (likely by mutation) and lead to tumorigenisis. Oncogenomics is synonymous with "cancer genomics". With the blossoming of oncogenomics, a greater understanding of where, how and why mutations occur will help us detect and catalog cancerous genes. This may lead to a promising future of cancer therapy and care. The term oncogenomics is often used in scientific journals or cancer related articles.
