Mikulicz syndrome

Mikulicz syndrome is a usually benign, chronic condition, characterized by the enlargement of the parotid, lacrimal or salivary glands occurring as a complication of a disease other than Mikulicz's disease such as lymphoma, leukemia, or uveoparotid fever. The exact cause is unknown, but it may be a form of Sjogren syndrome. It is diagnosed especially in middle-aged and elderly women.It may also have effect on the tonsils and other glands of the face and the neck.It is also known under the names Dacryosialoadenopathia, Dacryosialoadenopathy, Mikulicz-Radecki Syndrome, Mikulicz-Sjogren Syndrome and von Mikulicz Syndrome.
