The Medical University of Warsaw was founded in January 1950 on the basis of the former Faculty of Medicine of the University of Warsaw, which was established in the beginning of the nineteenth century. Nowadays the Medical University of Warsaw is the largest and one of the most prestigious medical schools in Poland.
