James Guarrera

James V. Guarrera, MD is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and an Assistant Attending Surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Guarrera was a key member in developing a novel technique of machine preservation of donor livers for transplantation, and in 2004 was part of the world's first team to successfully transplant a machine-perfused liver into a human (ISOP 2004). Today, Dr. Guarrera is acknowledged as an expert in organ preservation.
Selected Publications
Dr. Guarrera serves as referee for the two major transplant journals and has authored or co-authored 15 scientific papers as well as presented at many national and international meetings. Next Page
