Symptoms Symptoms and signs include neurological and cardiovascular depression, weakness, respiratory paralysis and cardiac conduction defects.
Treatment Treatment requires the cessation of any magnesium therapy. Calcium, insulin and dextrose may be given to counteract the plasma magnesium levels. Dialysis may be required in patients with severe renal failure.Clinical Medicine 5th ed. Kumar & Clark 2002 p687
