Halo blight

Halo Blight is a bacterial blight disease caused by, Pseudomonas amygdali pv. phaseolicola, in legumes. It causes small brown spots on the leafs with a light coloured edge.

Cause

The bacteria Pseudomonas amygdali pv. phaseolicola, which would be present on the bean before planting.

Symptoms

Small brown circles sunken into the leaf. Light yellow/green area around the spot the "halo". Yellowing of leaf and eventual death.

Propagation

Water droplets for example from rain or watering from above carry the spores.

Cure

There is no cure and crop destruction is the usual procedure.
