Faculty of Public Health

The Faculty of Public Health is the standard setting body for specialists in public health in the United Kingdom.The Faculty of Public Health (formerly the Faculty of Community Medicine and then the Faculty of Public Health Medicine) was formed in 1972 by the three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (London, Edinburgh and Glasgow). The Faculty seeks to promote public health through:
  • Promoting the education of public health doctors and other public health practitioners.
  • Examining public health doctors and other public health practioners.
  • Promoting the profession of public health.
  • Developing and advocating policies for improving public health.
    • The Faculty has around 3,000 members in several classes:
  • Fellows (FFPH)
  • Members (MFPH)
  • Trainee Members
  • Diplomate Members (DFPH)
    • The Faculty is a registered charity.
